You should… go to lectures and symposia and look for opportunities with non-profits and have one-night stands with reporters from the Post-Intelligencer and go on dates with what’s-his-name from the Solicitor General’s office, and anything that doesn’t have to do with Josh Lyman.

30 Days of The West Wing | Day 09 - Your favourite post-Sorkin episode
DONNA: You’re still here.
JOSH: Yeah. I’m still here.
GAZA/MEMORIAL DAY/NSF THURMONT
(Okay, so this is cheating. But I’ve been really good about sticking to the rules up until now, and this is my meme, SO WHATEVA WHATEVA I DO WHAT I WANT.)Anyway. First of all, for the record, I don’t hate Seasons 5-7. I dislike most of Season 5, true, and the first rule of the West Wing is still you do not talk about Drought Conditions, but I really think the post-Sorkin years do have their strengths, especially in Season 7, where everyone really hit their stride.
These three episodes though, omg. Because of this little story arc, I can forgive Bradley Whitford anything - the weedwhacker hairdo he had going on in season five? Forgiven. I can almost, almost even forgive that godawful moustache, because of the flawless performance he gives in these episodes. Even in that surgical mask, his eyes were breaking my heart.
And I know that there’s The Cold, and there’s Transition, and I know that all of that is still to come. But these episodes? This is when all of that should have happened.
(I MEAN, THOSE FLOWERS? THOSE FLOWERS WERE AN UNEQUIVOCAL ‘SO, HERE’S THE THING, I LOVE YOU DESPERATELY, AND WHEN YOU GET BETTER, LET’S TOTALLY HAVE SEX’ INVITE. STUPID SEXY JASON ISAACS.)
I remember watching this in the summer of 2005 - I had just discovered The West Wing and was able to catch up thanks to Bravo airing reruns of all the seasons up to that point - and freaking out in front of the little television in basement after “Memorial Day” ended because Donna’s fate was still unknown to me and I didn’t know when Bravo would air the 6th season (they eventually did, later in the summer and fall, because I remember studying for an Contemporary American History exam on Eisenhower while watching “The Birnam Wood”.)
Also: THEM. JUST THEM.
